“A good haven to sail for”
The year of 2008 has been exciting and the rapid passing of time for our congregation, our community, our country, and for some of us personally has been witnessed with great enthusiasm. I have been amazed by the historical events in our country and know many of you have been in celebration of those events as well. As moderator I have had the wonderful experience of getting to know many of you better and I continue to be committed to our path as a congregation and church family.
As we look to this holiday season may we join together looking toward our future in 2009 and forever be committed to our voice and service in the community and wider world. May our commitment be one of hope and possibilities and may we forever listen to the small voice inside that guides and keeps us. I look forward to joining each of you for Christmas services and our church annual meeting. The passage of time no matter how rapid should always be a time of prayerful reflection and embracing our faith in ourselves and each other. Remember these words, "To desire and strive to be of some service to the world, to aim at doing something which shall really increase the happiness and welfare and virtue of humankind ... this is a choice which is possible for all of us; and surely it is a good haven to sail for. — Henry Van DykePeace, Jackie| < Prev | Next > |
